Assignment 2: Project Proposal
Chiquita Tucker
Professor Janet Durgin
BUS 375: Project Management
Summary of the project
During the winter season, it is always very cold in the DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV), which
we need to wear warm clothes to take care of our health. Every year the cold and sometimes
snow starts at the beginning of December before people celebrate Christmas. Kids and most of
the people would like going to the snow skidding and skiing while others go out to watch other
people play.
I have decided to start a project of opening a shop for selling warm clothes such as woolen trench
coat, woolen leg warmers and warm jackets. This project will only start at the beginning of the
winter season and finish at the end of the winter season. The project will then require resources
like the human labor and the financial resources.
Goals and objectives
The goals of the project include; Offering the best clothing for the winter season Filling the gap in the market Satisfying the customers’ needs
The objectives for the project include; Looking for the best suppliers who have the warm clothes for the winter season Increasing sales of the warm clothes by a great percentage in the winter season Listening to what customers need and availing them in their convenient location
Key customer(s) and stakeholders for the project The key customers of the warm clothes are all those who live in the cold regions of the DMV
area. The stakeholders of the project are the supplies, the creditors who provide financial
resources and the employees.
Deliverables for the project
The project needs to sale large volume of woolen leg warmers, woolen trench coat, and warm
jackets from December to the end of March.
High-level timeline The best suppliers for the clothes are supposed to be identified and sort by 1st December. The stock of the clothes to be sold should be available in the shop by 10th of December. Marketing the clothes need to be done when the clothes have been made available in the
shop. The project should be closed at the end of winter season which is at the beginning of
Project Cost
The total cost of the project is estimated to be hundred thousand dollars. The key staffing
resources are the people who sell and market the clothes around where the shop is located and
those who purchase them from the suppliers. The non-staffing resources are the equipment and
the food taken by the staff. Project’s greatest challenge and a recommendation
The greatest challenge of the project is the allocation of the resources in the different activities to
be done and the other challenge is how to get the best location of the shop where there is high population. It is very important for the management to ensure that there are extra money that is
set aside to be used in case of any shortage in an activity and should also research on the
population size for the correct business location.
