Dr. Clean - Dry Cleaners

You have been hired to develop an interface for a busy Toronto Dry Cleaner called, “Dr. Clean”. They asked you to design an interaction for the following tasks.

Add a new cleaning order

This works as follows.

A new customer arrives and provides a set of clothes to the front clerk.

The front clerk enters the following information:

For the entire order:

Customer Name and phone number.

For each item the clerk can:

Select one of: Men/Ladies Suit, Pants, Coat, Dress, Skirt, Jacket, Skirt, Blouse, Sweater.

Add special notes (e.g. “cover buttons”)

Take a picture of the garment through the integrated web-cam of his/her terminal. The clerk has the ability to retake a picture until satisfied with the result, then save the picture.

Specify date requested back (morning, afternoon, evening).

prints a small tag which they attach to the item before depositing it for cleaning. A thermal label printer is attached for the purpose.

At any point in time the total amount is displayed on the screen.

At the end of the process a slip is printed and provided to the customer (no need to design that).

Find an order

When the customer comes to pick up their clothes, the process is as follows:

Customer provides their name and phone number.

From the list of customers that match the criteria, the clerk chooses the correct one.

The list of orders of the customer are displayed, ordered by how recent they are.

By selecting an order the clerk can:

See if the order has been paid for.

Review the items of the order (together with their thumbnail pictures).

See whether each item has been returned or is in process.

Mark each item as returned.

The clerk can mark the order “Returned” to mark that all the items in the order returned to the customer.

The clerk can mark the order “Paid” to mark that the order has been paid for.

At any point the clerk can search for a new customer or order.
